Studying Further Mathematics

If you are considering studying AS or A level Further Mathematics you should discuss your options with your mathematics teacher.

If possible you should study Further Mathematics through timetabled classes at your school or college.

Where this is not possible, with the cooperation of your school or college, the Further Mathematics Support Programme can help you, either by providing all of your Further Mathematics tuition, or by sharing the teaching with your school or college.

Tuition available through the FMSP

Details of the tuition and support that the FMSP provides can be found by following the links below and left.

  • Face-to-face tuition
The FMSP can arrange for a tutor, linked to your local FMSP area to provide tuition at your school/college or a local university.

  • Live online tuition (LOT)
Students are assigned to an online tutor group and receive tuition via the FMSP online platform, Blackboard Collaborate. The lessons are interactive and followed up with assignments and tutor support.

  • Live interactive lectures for Further Mathematics (LIL FM)
The FMSP provides a series of online lectures covering the content of most applied and further pure modules for the legacy A levels (i.e. not the new-style courses that start in September 2017). This resource introduces key ideas and supplements the support for Further Mathematics offered by your school/college.
